Day three was quite productive. We played most of the games again, and Duke seems to be responding very well to the Parelli methods. He understands the fundamentals of each game and is making great progress. I am unsure of … Continue reading
Day Two with Duke
Day two was a bit more involved. Even a lady bug decided it would be a fun time and joined us!
Today, Duke got brushed, his hooves picked, and got to play a few games with me. What was so different from yesterday, was that when I went to retrieve him from his pasture, he was much more eager to follow me, rather than hesitant and cautious. I feel as though we’ve already gained some decent trust. What a great foundation for friendship!
Surprisingly, we were able to play 5 of the 7 games. We played the most important game of all, the friendly game.
We also played the porcupine game, driving game, circling game, and the yo-yo game.
I did not plan on introducing him to most of the games today, but after seeing him do so well with the first couple, it had me curious as to what he knew. I believe this is going to be an exciting journey into the world of natural horsemanship. Thanks for tagging along!
Day One With Duke
This is Duke… He has been boarded at my house by a friend for quite sometime now. However, I have recently been going through some horse withdrawals and she has graciously given me the chance to introduce him to some natural horsemanship!
Part of Duke’s spine is twisted and therefore he cannot be ridden extensively, so I have decided to start from the ground up with the little Parelli knowledge I have and gain a great friendship for now. Day One consisted of officially meeting Duke and introducing him to the Parelli methods.
As you can see, he is definitely interested in checking things out, and stretching! Tomorrow we will play a few of the Parelli games and get to know each other a little more!
See you then!
